Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara
I can be very picky when it comes to mascara. I've had a lot of hits and misses in my time (what an old-timer I am) and only a few "holy grail status" favourites. Mascara is one of those makeup items that completely changes my face. I can hardly go a day without it.
I was so excited to get this mascara at Generation Beauty, I had seriously high hopes for it. All the products Tarte has come out with in the last little while have looked so so good.
Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara ($28) goes in the mixed feelings pile.
I love the brush, pigmentation and staying power. However, I find it to be a very wet, very weighted formula.
My lashes are naturally very straight and no matter what, I have to curl them before a mascara application. Don't mind my brows in the photos below. They are slowly growing back after a wax and I'm letting them do thier thang.
I curled my lashes as much as I possibly could.
It does a fantastic job of seperating and fanning out your lashes. The deep black colour gives an almost falsies effect.
The photo above was taken right after application. It looks fantastic but that curl disappears way too quickly for my liking. If it held a curl, this would definitely be lead contender in my go-to mascaras.
The formula dries to an almost waxy, gel-like finish which means your able to curl your lashes again once it's dry. I never do this usually but I find it's the only way for me to get the full effect of this mascara.
The photo above was taken about 15 minutes later. I didn't go back and curl again so you could see the full effect. It's far from terrible but it's not all that great in my opinion.
All this said, I'll still wear it. It's a full size tube and a great brand. I'm sure my eyes and lashes are happy I'm forgoing many of the chemicals that are in my usual mascara picks.
I'm hoping that once it dries out a bit more in the tube than it will be easier to work with and less heavy. *fingers crossed*
Have you tried this Tarte mascara, if so what are your thoughts?
